Employers are facing major changes to employment law under the new Labour government. The King's Speech announced wide-ranging plans including:

  • Removing the two-year qualifying period for unfair dismissal claims
  • Making all roles flexible by default
  • New rights for zero-hours workers to move to a regular hours contract and receive compensation for cancelled shifts
  • Restricting the use of "fire and rehire" to change terms
  • Preventing dismissal of employees within 6 months of returning from maternity leave
  • Simplifying the trade union recognition process and easing strike ballot requirements

Further changes are also expected in the longer term, including in relation to employment status and extension of workers' rights, third-party harassment, family leave, and collective redundancy consultation.

In this webinar we discuss how these changes will impact employers, what sort of claims they might face, and the steps they should take now to prepare.
